IAM Basics
When talking about Identity and Access Management I often realize that terms are used with different meanings. This leads into misunderstanding and misinterpretation during projects. The reason for this is that these terms are already used for long time in the company. Some are talking about apples, others about pears.
A good example is about the Active Directory “Account” which is often called “Identity” and the reason for this is a historical one. AD was often used as Identity Management repository, as nothing else was available in the past. Now, coming in with a new experience and using new terms, people get quiet often confused.
Creating the same language is one key-excersize for each IAM journey.

As there are many of these “heads” in your organization that have this extensive knowledge about your landscape, please do not underestimate the change effort.
Each IAM project is a change management project.
